Baz, well I am guessing you went on Highfields if the day ticket was only £1.50 as its more than that at willowgarth and can't see you catching skimmers at willowgarth! So I am guessing you went on the top pond at highfields practicing for the silver fish league.
As for putting in islands - yes there will be a central island but its not going to be in pole range.

Mind you at least that is promising for the silver fish matches - whereabouts did you fish?

My 30lbs of skimmers and Roach scroll down to post 110 only finished 3rd,if you can get it something like this people will be queing to fish matches there. 300lbs of silvers ave 16lbs a peg (thats a lot of fish ) numbers wise, and not a Carp insight, Allthough there is plenty in for those who wish to fish for them.

Steve - little john is a cracking venue and I reckon the ide are pushed out by the stokies theres that many of em
re stocking any new lake - if was my own would be big tench, carp and barbel - prob some big goldfish too but would obv cost a fortune
if business - F1's, F2's, Ide and skimmers - ranskill match lake seems to have the balance spot on - you can win with carp off some pegs but also win with silvers off others

What day you going down Baz? Might join you two...
As for the stocking policy its looking like the Carp, tench, silvers is winning out so far - what about chub and barbel or are these a NO NO for people?

Kev, you would be well advised to come to me for advice on how to fish Highfields - why do you think I chose that as one of the venues?? Perhaps because it is less than half a mile from my house and I have fished 3 winter series on there and know the place like the back of my hand ... oh and yes I will be doing the pegging as well.... send me a PM if you want to know how to do it (how to get the 12oz roach coming rather than the little ones!)
