The thicker walls would aid stiffness in one way (density) but hinder stiffness in other ways (extra weight to diameter). It would be interesting to see these sections. I would think that the pole would be stiffer at shorter lengths like a true 13 than with a standard kit at a true 13 but softer in comparison the longer you go.
