Just stared fisihing on the pole can any one tell me what 4 x 14 means on pole float

its the amount of weight it takes , in this case 4number 14 styles or any combination of smaller weights to cock it properly ie 5x num 8 shot and 2 x num 10 try this site to work them out for you

the shotting comes from the continent where pole fishing originated.
Styles can be a problem with tangles

tangles when using styles is a myth, yes you get tangles if you dont put them on correctly!
