Default Garbolino Premier Legion ???

Hi all,

Thinking about getting a new pole, preferably at 16m.
I was looking at the garbolino premier legion but don’t know much about it?

What do think of this pole and is it fishable at 16m? If you have any other recommendations which fall in same price range then please shout.

All comments and views are very welcome as the more info I get the easier it should be to choose the best pole in this range.

Thanks in advance.

For the price you will really struggle to match the PL, it's fishable at 16, more so than most in the price range (and a little higher). try and get ur hands on one to wave it about.

FUNKMASTER has got one and loves it. I've just gone from a super legion to a superG10 but if I had to start again I'd have a prem like a shot!

Cheers for the comments.

Whats so good about it that parts it so much from the rest in the price range?
Does anyone know the weight of this at 16m? Cant find it anywhere and their website is in french with little content.

Whats the spares like to get hold of here and are they expensive for power kits etc?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

It's just as davidwhittington says. Match and power kits are the same price as are No4s, all should be a tad under £50. Availability is as good as the dealer you use ie. some dealers will blame the manufacturers when in reality they are juggling their finances themselves.

The premier legion is heavy at 16m and not fishable for very long IMO. It is ok at 14.5m. I've had mine for a couple of years now and I'm very pleased with it. You can get spares over the counter from fosters.

Cheers all,

royst, I think that ill be going to Fosters to get the pole when i have made my mind up as i've only heard good stuff about them and if they stock the Garbo stuff then even better.

Have you had any problems with breakages etc and how would you rate it in terms of weight, power, section strength etc. Im getting drawn more and more towards this pole with the comments i'm getting.

Thanks

royst is right about fishing 16m but it's easily manageable at 14.5. This pole will do everything EXCEPT margin bashing, open water carping should pose no problems. The match kits i'm told are stronger than the power kits once the No1 section has been removed, which is the way to go if you use hollow elastics. That way you can just pull it all out and re-fit the No1 if you decide to fish primarily for silvers. I'm considering getting some of these kits myself as I think they're really good value.

Why wouldn't it be good for margin bashing? Isn't it very good when hitting big carp?

I'm only asking as when summer arrives alot of my big bags are caught from the magins and normally no futher out then my top 3. Will this be a problem?

Cheers

It depends on how you play your fish when you hook them. If you lift gently into the bites so the carp don't spook and charge off it'll be fine. You'll probably be able to 'mug' them without adding sections but a short 4 would be a good purchase. If you start adding sections and chasing them out they can build up a head of steam and prove more difficult to stop. Personally I'd use a margin pole and protect my main pole.
