Default Tackle Insurance

Anyone let me know what the best insurance plan for tackle is. I've got a bit of expensive kit and a mate of mine recently had the lot pinched from his garage, and he is having a lot of grief claiming on his house insurance, as the tackle was expensive, Milo box, couple of poles, rods & reels must be in the region of about 4K. And do you have to name all the items on the insurance forms?

Hi little fish
Have a look at this site
Fishing Tackle Insurance | Fishing Insurance, Angling Insurance - E&L Insurance
Although this site will only insure pole up to a maximum of around £1000 and tackle boxes up to £150 so also would appreciate any other ideas as my tackle is also uninsured at the moment and house insurers wont cough up that kind of money if your tackle goes walkies !!!

is tackle insurance a good idea, or is it just another way of making more money for the suppliers.

was unfortunate enough to have all my gear nicked a few years back, kept it in a concealed pit in my garage.my house insurance covered it but because of the expense i had to prove i had owned the tackle.i hadn't taken any photos of my gear but had been lucky enough to have a bit of individual and team success and had newspaper cuttings and photos.and after two long meetings with an insurance agents they accepted my claim.they never doubted i had it stolen, just the value of the gear.recommend people take photos of their gear, keep receipts and ring their house insurers to check if their gear is covered and itemise expensive items.been very lucky, wouldnt have fished again if it hadnt been replaced and although new gears nice would have swapped it all for my old stuff

Guys this is an interesting site for Tackle insurance

Most Insurers don't understand the value of fishing tackle and only offer basic cover, this could be down to ignorance or just there idea of earning a quick buck.

You need to think of your tackle as specilist sports equipment and that is indeed what it is, there are a few good companies out there one of which can be found here

E&L - Angling Insurance Policy Rates

They can insure you up to 7.5k and will quote higher amounts, they also offer worldwide cover if required, there is also a 2 years new for old and unnatended vehicle cover built in

Its not cheap but then neither is your tackle
