Shimano gear first class. I don't think you can go wrong with it, spares easy to get as well.
I don't agree with this longest pole thing, its hard work at 14.5m in any wind let alone 16. And thats with a shimano exage, not a super expensive pole, but a good bit of kit. I know many anglers fish at 16 m, but it is hard work.

i agree with you that not everyone likes to fish long but there will be a time when he is at a lake and the island is 15mtr away
yeah you could fish the waggler to the island, but its harder to fish the waggler like that with out getting snaged up.
with a pole you ship out and drop it in how easy is that,
you can use a spray bar when it is windy and just use a longer line from your tip to your float.

If I were you I would go and have a wiggle of the Daiwa Yank and Bank, it goes up to 12.5M but you can get the 10.8M one off ebay new for about £129 and they are strong as anything + very light and stiff.
