Default feeder fishing advice.

Posted this on an other forum but got no replies.
Got a new feeder rod for christmas, but as i have not done a lot of feeder fishing in the past, would like some advice on what type of rigs to use and when ?

keep it simple the more complicated the more prone to tangles
i normally use a fixed patenoster tied vie a 4 turn water knot or a double over hand loop attach a snap swivel to this end allow you easy change for whether using open ended or block.
The "dink dink" I normally use on running water with a blockended feeder, basically it's a big loop ( about a foot)which contains a free running swivel, then a series of smaller loops tied at the end of this

Simplest set up i use, and one that enables great flexibility is to use a korum feedabeed or similar so you can change the size of the feeder easily, tie the mainline to a korum (again or similar) quick change bead, all you need to do then is loop your hooklength to the other side. with this set up you can change hooklength easily and feeder easily so its pretty versatile. With pretied hooklinks you can rig up on the bank and be ready to fish in a minute or so.

If you are new to feeder fishing keep it dead simple, better to learn about feed frequencies, telling feeder knocks from bites etc than worry about complex rigs

id say more important than anything else, certainly more important than the rig is to be able to choose the right feeder for the job and cast accurately.

Like the others said for specific rig advice let us know what sort of venue and target species etc

I agree, keep things nice and simple, I've had a lot of fun with a feeder, I have never used a complicated set up.

I will be fishing a local park lake holds a few skimmers, roach, rudd, tench and perch. I have been looking into using some small lead clips i have from my carp fishing days. I think they will be usful if i want to change feeders through the session. See picture.

I personally wouldnt use the lead clip, i think you'd be better off with a free running feeder than fixed in and you are adding unnecessary bulk and resistance with your target species being smaller twitchier fish.

Something like this is nice and simple, use quick change devices on the feeder link and at the start of the hooklength as i described above and you will be able to chop and change to your hearts content as conditions change

I was going to set the clip up as a running rig as it has a bead that clips into the end so the swivel wont lock in. Do you think this may not be sensitive enough.
