Default Short carp feeder rod

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a 10 - 11ft feeder rod for commercials chucking small feeders to islands at about 20M, main target 2-3lb fish - anyone got any ideas which rod I should be looking at?

Have you looked at the bob nudd range of feeder rods? smallest is 12ft though personally i use a 10ft shaky feeder rod great for all round feeder fishing and a good budget rod at that.

Think I have at least 15 various feeder rods in the garage for different scenarios!

Just none of them are shorter than 12ft and I want a short one for the narrow commercial work.

DRENNAN PUDDLE CHUCKER

The sales blurb about the rod

DRENNAN PUDDLE CHUCKER 10FT CARP FEEDER ROD IN PADDED SLEEVE

Designed to break down into two equal sections with one of its quiver tips in place, the 10ft carp feeder is an excellent fish playing rod that is absolutely ideal for carp on small commercial waters.
With ideal reel lines between 3lb and 6lb it will handle anything from light bombs to medium feeders and small method feeders.
The three glass tips of 1oz 1 1/2oz & 2oz will help to exaggerate bites and the special shock absorber action will reduce hook pulls

Complete with rod sleeve which allows the reel to be fixed to the rod

I must admit I didn’t set out to buy this rod. When I left home I was going to my local tackle shop to buy a padded rod sleeve to fit my feeder rod so I could take it to matches ready made up
Unfortunately after a bit of measuring and discussion it turned out that my rod would not fit easily into a sleeve as it didn’t break down in equal sizes and they didn’t have any sleeves that would fit, they did have some new Maver sleeves on order that may come close but they would be a few weeks
On my way out I spotted some new rods on display and they had the full range of the new Drennan series 7 rods
Any way to cut a long story short after a quick waggle I came away with the 10ft feeder rod in a padded sleeve for the superb price of £60
When I got it home and had a closer inspection I was well pleased with the sleeve and imagine you would have to pay at least £15-£20 for that alone A closer look at the rod had me a bit concerned as the recommended max line size was 6lb and as I mostly fish at Rolfs lake these days I tend to fish 8lb straight thru
Still the rod had 2 chances as I was using 8lb if it liked it or not and hopefully they would have built a bit of a safety margin in
The reel fitting was nice and solid with the now mostly standard screw down lock to hold the reel in position and once the reel was in position the rod was nicely balanced with enough of the cork butt to run along your forearm and give good leverage
My first outing didn’t prove too much as it was at Monk lakes but with the 1oz tip and 3lb main line the rod showed up bites from 4oz Tench very clearly and the rod had a nice soft action on the strike and handled my best fish of the day a 1lb mirror with ease
The rods first outing to Rolfs saw it fishing thru the ice at 6m with 8lb line straight thru to a size 12 hook on the day I had 2 7lb Carp but both were hit and hold to keep them out of the ice but the rod handled them with ease the action was fantastic with a uniform bend from the cork right thru to the tip
The rods next outing was to be it’s biggest test again it was at Rolfs and again 8lb line straight thru to a size 12 hook this time it was casting out to the middle the casting action of the rod is fantastic with only a small flick being needed to cast a small feeder 20m
The striking and hook setting is spot on and on the day I had no hook pulls or foul hookers which is a first for me

I caught 121lb 12oz of hard fighting Carp from 6lb to 13lb 8oz and the rod handled them all with ease I felt in control at all times and the soft action of the rod counteracted the sudden lunges of the fish at the net all in all a fantastic rod and for £60 you can’t go wrong
It breaks down dead easy and fits in the sleeve which has a full length zip it comes supplied with 3 Velcro bands to strap the sections together and there is a pocket in the sleeve to store the spare tips

I bought the new Carbonactive 9'9'' to 11'3'' mini carp rod last november.
Its brilliant ive used it at both lengths and its soft enough to land big carp on .10 hook links and has the power to both cast and land big carp with heavy gear as well, Its handling the Mallory carp with no problems and they 'FIGHT HARD'.
Only snag is its £130......price tag
