Default Please help with pole choice

I know this has probably been asked before, but I can't decide which pole to buy, I want a 14.5 m that I can use for big carp but also use for roach/bream fishing, ideally having 2 match top 3's and 2 power kits. Looking at spending 400 - 500 quid. I've been thinking of the Maver 151 competition but seem to read a lot of bad reports of Maver on here? All comments greatly appreciated.

try one of the map poles or a preston imo, even better go to your local shop and try a few out

Thanks for your reply, I have been in my local fishing shop today (exeter angling centre), but there selection of poles is a bit dated to be honest, although they did have the Maver 101 which seemed good for the price. There is so many poles to choose from it's giving me a headache!! ha ha

hi mate,i had the shimano exage 14.5mtr..here is what is said..
It wasn’t easy to create a pole to replace the original Exage Competition whose reputation was built on a combination of quality and competitiveness. The new AX, however, is even stiffer and lighter than its predecessor whilst the low diameter blank makes for ultra-easy handling, even in the windiest of conditions.
The Exage AX Competition offers super value and performance not often seen in a sub £400 pole, this is set to be one of the biggest selling poles in the UK for this season!

14.5m pack includes:

2 x Power Kit 2.
2 x Match Kit 4.
1 x Cupping Kit.
1 x Pole Holdall

Exage AX Competition Pole 14.5m 1137g 11 £490.00 £399.00
have a look at this pole if you can get one..all the best

Keep saving mate as it it will be well worth it, the bit extra you need will get you hell of a pole for your money.

Daiwa poles are very good as the top kits interchange right through the range, spares are easily bought as well.

They dont get superseeded every six months like some other brands do so they hold their money well.

Spares are available garanteed for 5 years if Daiwa discontinue the pole.

Best of all they are made in the UK

In a word buy a Daiwa.

Thanks for your advice. Which Daiwa pole would you recommend? I have read loads of good reviews on here of the Daiwa G8, but that is a lot of money!

Looking at your price range I would go for a MAP pole they are strong poles and good value. Spares are cheap too. I've had a waggle of a MAP M16 power pole at the tackle barn fishing shop in plymouth superb at 13m and still good at 14.5m think it comes with 1 match kit and 2 power kits a cupping kit and a short number 4 section. great value at under £350.

I would also agree that the shimano exage poles are great poles but I don't think they are quite as strong as the MAP.
