I have purchased a ton of this line enough to open a small shop, innitially I was impressed with the strength to diameter ratio it was on par with most other brands and kind of a name you can trust, it certainly has some better properties than the old Pro micron 3 which was the line I last used 8 years ago, the stretch is amazing.

However I have a problem mainly with the 0.13 as this is what I have made most of this weeks rigs up with,

Halfway through the spool Im feeling slight imperfections with the line, when you run it through your fingers it has a dry feel as apposed to that supple soft feel you get normally, it also seems to vary in Diameter thats on feel alone though. I have NOT used a micrometer on it or tested its breaking strain.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems or is this just a bad spool

mate i ahve noticed this with lots of brands of line but i have expereinced it the least with powerline. with how good preston's aftersales are contact them they may send you a freeby.

it does usually happen at the bottom of a spool thats why you should always buy line that the packaging looks clean and new to make sure it hasnt been on a shelf for 12 months.

Shaun I know where your coming from, Preston are good, hence investing best part of 150 quid in their line, incedently it was all fresh stock in clean packaging

I have looked at the line under a magnifying glass a little while ago although there doesnt seem to be any nicks or abrassions it looks as if it has been twisted during spooling which makes it feel inconsistant, it breaks on or around its correct strength I tested that also, maybe it is just a spooling glitch.

It think it's to do with the extrusion.Nothing to worry about (I don't think !) something to do with temperature, if I remember right.

yes mate i have 3 spools doing the same, give the line a pull as to stretch it, not hard enough to break it and all seems well

grab the line in either hand then pull it and rub it over you leg. if it straightens out and dosnt leave no kinks use it. if it leaves the kinks in ,bin it.

Strange because i too have only ever noticed this `rough` feel on the 0.13 diameter Power line .Ive never had problems with it like but just thought it was a bad batch .

i have checked the diameter of a .15 spool and its was way off even though i used it for two years and never had a problem i have moved to the shimano silk shock i like to know what is on the spool is what im using.

powerline is well known to be waaaay off usually +.2. Dont get me wrong ive a couple of spools bought it before i used a micrometer to test it and all i do is remeber thats its .2 above tonight i tied some rigs on .13 to .14 hooklengths (.14 daiwa super g) so in reality it was .15 to .14 easy. companys really need to be more accurate and a standard industry test needs to be brought in.

wonder if any one got hung up on cat gut dimensions.And how often did we go to the gym to train for lifting spanish reed rods.It never used to be rocket science.sorry just thinking aloud
