MAP Definition
Rather than write a review after using the pole once I thought I would take some time and use it in some different situations. I have had the Definition now for just over 2 months and I am very pleased with my choice.
I started my search for a new pole before christmas and read many reviews in the fishing mags and online. I narrowed dowm my shortlist to 3 poles 1) Preston GXR1000 2)Map Adrenalin Pro 3) Garbolino Carp Match. ( Yes I know the definition isnt in the short list )I looked at the Preston and Map side by side up to 13 mtrs and although the GXR was lighter it wasnt as stiff and well balanced as the MAP. Although the MAP is more expensive you get more spares so to kit out the GXR to the same level you would end up paying more. I went back and tried the MAP at 16 mtrs and it wasnt as good as I would have hoped. It was very heavy and sloppy and I was quite disappointed.
I then had a look at the Carp Match. I had high hopes with this pole as many people had said very good things about it. Up to 13 mtrs I was very happy with it, but adding the 14.5 mtrs section and 16 mtrs section I thought it became quite sloppy and unbalanced. There I was feeling as if I would have to go back to the drawing board when the salesman asked had I looked at the Definition.
At 13 mtrs its is simply awesome. Very stiff and well balanced it can be fished 1 handed and at 14.5 it was still very rigid and at 16 meters still very good and useable for a full match. While it is not the lightest pole it has a great balance about it that makes it very fishable. The package is very good as well 7 top kits, 2 short no4 sections and a hardcase holdall. I was however disappointed with one thing, when the top kits are elasticated the do not fit back into the top kits tubes. Therefore the harcase holdall will not hold everything in it. Enough of the background information onto the review.
I decided to remove the no1 section of the hybrid top kits and put an external bush straight onto the number 2 section and put the elastic through the no2 and 3 sections. With 7 top kits I chose to put preston 11h with pull bungs in 2 top kits, 13h in 3 top kits and 15h in one and the last one had Garbolino green hollow.
The first session say me fishing at 11 mtrs to the far bank of a snake lake for f1 carp. Using a top kit with 11h and fishing a small dibber shallow with corn on the hook. When a fish was hooked it was a case of shipping back letting the elastic taking the strain before applying a bit of pressure to bring the fish to the surface and netting it. The definition slides through the hands very easily and combined with the soft elastic I never had any worries about bumping fish off. My next session consisted of fishing at 9 mtrs at a depth of about 8 foot. A few nice 2-3lb carp came to the net before too many line bites meant that I decided to come shallow. Fising 2 foot deep loose feeding maggots saw roach and rudd being caught at regular intervals before some bigger carp and F1 arrived to cap off a very enjoyable day.
I fished numerous sessions at 13mtrs scratching around for bites and never once got tired holding 13 mtrs of pole in the wind and rain. It has great balance and is very rigid so only a slight dip of the elbow is needed to set the hook.
In conclusion i would say that anyone looking for a pole 750 to 1000 brackett would be wise to have a look at the MAP Definition.
If anyone wants to ask any questions feel free to ask.
Thanks
