Hi, looking for advise on good tackle set up for barbel fishing on the severn.

fish ironbridge and bridgenorth areas and a complete novice. Can any one recommend any reasonably priced rod/reel combinations?

The set up i use which is fine is Heavy feeder rod a 6010 bait runner with 8lb maxima mainline. 020 hook length to a drennan 12 barbel hook. 30 to 50 gram kamasan black cap feeder. 3 or 4mm high oil pellets for feed with 8 - 12 mm pellets hair rigged. I drill them and use a band pulled through the middle. You can alter baits and feed such as hemp n caster, meat or maggots.
Thats mine anyway
Good luck

12ft-14ft extra heavy feeder rod, baitrunner (size=5000/6000 but i prefer a 5000). 8lb maxima mainline, 8lb hook lenth, size 10 drennan super specialist or kamazan animal hooks, for pellet i use 6mm halibut and 6mm trout pellet mixed and soaked in a drennan grip mesh feeder with a 14mm halibut on a stonfo band. maggot i use a drennan oval 70gram (heavy but they come lighter if its a small river) mix it with some hemp or 4mm halibuts (drill the holes bigger for quicker releas of the feed), and put as many maggots u can on the hook (7-8).

CATCH EVERY TIME!! (well thats the plan)
