Default help on pole float and depth

Anyone got any info on what float to use in certain depths of water eg; what floats ( .1g, 4x10,etc etc) in 1ft of water, 4ft,5ft, you get the idea any info would be very much appreciated thanks.

Roughly working it out to .1g to a foot of water and you won't be far wrong. However it depends a lot on tow. I have fished a 3g float in 3ft of water before to get the right presentatation. Another consideration is whetheer you want to catch on the drop or on the deck.

Thanks keith, is it right that a 4x10 is the same as a.1g, and 4x12 a .2g etc etc because i have a mixture of different floats
