Default Method Line...

Hi all...

Just about to try the 'Method' (Believe it or not , for the first time)...

What is everybodys fave line for this style & why...Any tips most welcome, for Mr Clueless

Can't wait to try it out, whilst our finny friends are still (hopefully) active...
Seriously, never used one...(H-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-l-p!!)

P.S. Which are the best make of Feeder in your considered opinions ??
Thank you in advance...

I'm not an expert but i prefer the Drennan feeder (as shown)

2 of the 3 flights are weighted so it always lands the same way up, i use 8-10lb mainline with a hair rigged hook on about a 4" hook length. If you don't know how to load the feeder with ground bait do a search on google, you'll find many articles on the subject even a video or 2!
Remember, a loaded method feeder is a heavy old lump you need a bit of power, I use either a Korum twin tip or quiver 12" rod.

The setup is a bolt rig and will normally result in the fish hooking themselves, the swivel is only pushed in the bush so will easily come out if the feeder gets snagged up.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply Tenchman & your comments will be taken on board...

I must say, considering this is 'Talk Angling' I was a tad dissapointed by the response...

People seem very reluctant to 'chat' on the chat site...Probably some find the questions trivial, but you know how it is when you haven't tried something before & help from those well versed at a method can accelerate your progress...

I am currently trying the Kobra Feeders out, but will also try out the Drennan ones you mention...(Always was good kit) Trying to get a good 'Mix' will no doubt be an education, I was reading the comments about it, in the 'Method Mix' thread...

cheers again...

Dont really think 4 hours is a long time.without a response . No question is trivial but no one says people have to sit and wait for you to post......24 people have read your post in the 4 hours you had it on.....i think Patients has to be called for.not all anglers are expert with method fishing 6lb sensor line and korda method feeders is the way i would go

Larry

I'm not so keen on the Korda, if you mean this one

because the weight is only on one of the flights it doesn't lay the same way each time, and as they say "presentation is everything".

Might just be in my head but i've had better result with the Drennan.

Use maver craig obrien feeders, they are just right.I also bought a neil machin garbolino speed cup.The feeders are good and you load the feed onto it via an egg shape cup.Maver feeders fit the cup as well.If you cant shape a method ball properly then you need one of these.Simplicity in loading, comes with instructions, and you can make each ball the exact size every time.

Cheers for the replys lads...I always think it's interesting to get a debate going on anything 'fishy' & especially what is for me 'new ground, as there can be so many varied answers...

This to me, is what makes fishing such a draw, as you can have several 'strings' to your bow & having just re-started, the keeness is there in spades...

With a couple of Club wins under my belt, i'll be looking to fish a few opens again soon & I have a bit of ground to cover, with certain styles, hence the 'impatience' to grasp as much knowledge as possible...

It's obvious that there are some well versed anglers on here & the tips are so valuable to one who is currently 'firing on all cylinders' again...
