Default Preston X box range

Hi looking at buying one of these boxes the X5 version, however two local shops have stated that they are to be replaced in mid September with a new range.
Can anyone confirm this?

I have rung Prestons who say some new products are on the way (they will not confirm what) but the X5 is not be altered.

Default Preston X5

Hi pal! Ive got an X5 and i think they are spot on. One word of warning though, you WILL need a space shuttle/trolley to move it about. Tried carrying mine 100 yards to a swim when i first got it.......never again!! If youre gonna carry it about, i'd get a different box...seriously!!

Matress is spot on mate.
I've got the X6 On-Box & while it's strong & built for the job you pay for it in weight. If you've got any problems at all lifting I'd think again or better still go to a tackle shop a try one.
Rather than carry it, I even wheel mine from the shed in the back garden around to the front garden at times (to load in the car).
Tis a nice box though, but just be aware of the weight if you're not young-ish & fit-ish.

Thanks for that advise lads. Yes they are VERY heavy but with a trolly this should not be that bad.
Polehard thanks for the PM, was looking at the Boss but was told that Boss has stopped producing boxes?
With the X range has anybody heard of these being re-vamped (perhaps made lighter?)
Ideally i would like 4no. deep front drawers, but also at the moment they do not do that unless you get the X6.

Default Preston Box

I sold my preston 4 drawer and upgraded to an x5 - great box. Very stable, but as others mentioned, a bit heavy. 3 of us brought them at the same time, and the only issues that we have had are minor - Footplate sticking when being slid in / out (just wash down from time to time to remove dirt, and problem solved). The other issue was that one of my mates was sat in the sun all day and the plastic handles on his 3 side draws started to warp in the heat (they became very soft).

Overall - sound box, should last years of abuse if looked after.

Just looked at the BOSS that Polehard suggested, and I must say it looks good, anybody got one of these looking at the 6 drawer version.

Default Rive All The Way Matey

ahdoo pal,,, brother inlaw has just bought the tournament version of this box and i have to say, along with him,, price to build quality ratio, your gettin robbed, now as stated above preston boxes are heavy but people with trolleys or barrows shouldnt worry and again price to build quality ratio it aint to bad!,, after pickin up a £500 tackle voucher for a match win, i decided that a box upgrade was the order of the day and after looking at everything from plastick shakespear boxes to top end rive boxes,, i went with the new RIVE D36 STATION COMPLETE,,, price to build quality ratio you get every penny's worth and you have the advantage of being able to pick and choose what your box will look like when completed,,,,but you will need a trolley or barrow cos it weighs a metric ton,,, but put that at the side of build quality and its an easy pill to swallow! I DONT REGRET BUYING IT ONE BIT...hope this helps bloke,,,,
PS,, ITS AS STURDY AND SURE FOOTED AS A MOUNTAIN GOAT,,GIVE IT I LOOK OVER!
