Question Feeding

During a match, when you fish the feeder and cast out, can you then throw bait into the margins on your pole line. If the answer is yes, is it then allowed to feed your pole line at 9metres while the feeder is being fished.

If not why.

In most matches You can feed any line whilst you are already fishing a method i.e the feeder has long has you throw the bait in or catupult it in. What you can't do is fish the feeder and use a pole to feed another line.

D N W. why is that? theres no rig on a cupping kit, so no bait in the water. am i being naive? i did it on sunday and no one said anything. was i breaking a rule? is it lust a rule in your club? i have honestly never heard that. if that is the case, then obviously i wont do it again, i wouldnt want to cause a problem. by the way, i didnt come anywhere in the match, so it did me no good in the end.

Thanks devilfisher3, as long as there is no hook in the water I thought it would be O.K.

I agree with DNW. Be prepared for protest if you cup in whilst another line is fishing!!

Devilfisher3, you are right some matches i fish allow you to feed with a pole cup whilst using a tip rod, however i think its in the nfa model match rules that you can't. So a lot of matches fish to these rules, so if i go to a new venue i always ask the organiser if its allowed. Given the choice though i don't do this anyway because you can garuntee that if you are feeding with the pole cup the tip rod will fly around with a big carp on and then you are juggleing with the rod and pole. I would bring the rod in to refill and feed the pole line then.

National federation of anglers, Rule 15, States.
All groundbait maybe thrown in by hand, or by use of one or two handed catapults, throwing sticks, swim feeder, bait droppers and bait cups, but no other mechanical means of projecting groundbait is allowed. No bait shall be introduced with a pole cup or bait dropper attached to an extra pole/rod whilst continuing to fish.
As most clubs fish to NFA rules then yes you would probably be breaking the rules. Check with match organiser before you start fishing about the rules.
