Spent ages yesterday typing a reply for Sat's match only to see it go sailing off into the wild blue yonder when I tried to save it as I had visitors just before I had finished it.

Anyway dummy back in pram I will try and post a shortened version,
Called in at Pine Lakes yesterday for a few hours, there was an open match on, but there was not many there so I fished well out of their way, there was a strong wind which at times gusted quite bad, the match was being fished at the top end which was a lot calmer, the chap on peg 19 had about 20lb out when I left but this included 2 Carp for about 15lbs. Everyone bar one was fishing the wagler (maggot) and was catching if somewhat slowly, I decided the only way I could fish my peg was with a feeder (maggot) as the wind was blowing sideways from my right I had about half a dozen Ide for about 3lbs (6-10oz,) lost 3 fish and missed loads of bites, may not sound much but this was off a bad peg (wind wise) and I had been switching around trying different size hooks and hooklenghts, spent quite a bit of time trying different things, I settled for a size 20 hook anything bigger and the bites dried up anything smaller than 22 and I was missing the bites the hooklenght I found best was at about 18 inches from the feeder anything longer and the maggot was coming in chewed up or missing, after about 3 hours there was a very black cloud coming over so I packed up and ran for the hills. and boy did it rain, struggled to see the bonnet in front of the car on the M18.
This may sound daft, but put some sunglasses in your kit

as in October the sun went across the sky just above the mounds of earth and it was difficult to see the floats for part of the day without them.see you tomorrow.Phill.
