Bill a little of the timing is based on the fact that some of the lads have upto a 2 1/2 hour drive and might want a breaky before we kick off, I have arranged for a set of digital scales that weigh up to 50lb so it should be a one weigh per angler, but if everyone is available I will try and do the draw earlier, but if we start from the far side of the pool and work back to the carpark we can if needed use the car head lights and I will organize a torch.

Brian was reading angling times and they have given blood worm and joker the thumbs up for barston ?? We have a problem obtaining it around these parts. But most are saying Maggots / Pellets / Worm / Casters / Corn / Meat. Not much to go on there then LOL
Cheers mate, Terry

Think the B&J is aimed at the big lake which goes rock hard during winter after a few frosts, the match lake is a little deeper and maybe only 1/20th of the size, my bait list will be maggot, soft hooker pellet, micro feed pellet and a bit of corn and maybe caster. Hey the match is more as a TA get together, brekky, a bit of banter, a prize for everyone, a few quid in pools money, and the chance to have a pint and a chat in Barstons million pound clubhouse after. Mind you I would say that because non of my local tackle dealers does B&J either.

i'm in two minds wether to fish b/j myself or go with the maggots/pellet/caster approach its unusual that a venue allows it so you nether know

My guess is that it would be a waste of money, ok on a winter league match on the cut, theres an 100 pegger on Sunday on the big lake bet the majority will put the feeder out and then resort to a pole line but there wont be many using B&J. Nigel tells me hes putting some pegs on the match pool as well so I will take a look see and put any info on here.
There are no bait bans at Barston any way so it can be used at any time, the rules are simple NO Braid, No Floating Baits, Barbless Hooks.

My guess is that the fish will have see more pellet than groundbait, I have only walked round the pool once before and past it on a few occasions so like you I am fishing it blind. If you intend to use any groundbait I would only be putting small nuggets in.

Good banter Brian / Leetwin,
A cracking day out is all we want and as you say some good banter cant wait. Never mind the B/J we dont need that plenty more option available.
