Ray if you haven't done already, give the landlord at the George & Dragon a quick call to let him know your intentions to use his car park (even though it's only for a few minutes) On a couple of the winter/commercial league matches anglers used the car park all day and he came out at the end of one match and had a right go! I think he's ok if he knows what's happening and I'm sure he'll be fine for using it as a meeting place but it would be polite just to tell him.

Ray,this is gonna sound real daft as i used the stuff every weekend from about November to the end of the season but I haven't got a clue!! As all the matches I fished were with the Bathampton team or Bathampton Opens, Pewsey Practices and the Angling Times Semi's at Pewsey I just turn up and there's a 'magic' parcel of newspaper with Graham written on it waiting for me! Kev Dicks imports it in for the team. I think it comes from Poland these days as opposed to Belgium a few years ago but other that that I'm completely clueless. Sorry to be so crap. I can give you Kev's mobile number on the match.
To be honest though it's only necessary for team points on the Bath end of the canal. All the damage is done on the punch in the first hour or so. The B & J only picks off 'eyes' later in the match to try and add a few valuable ounces and a few extra points to the teamsheet. Therefore it's not really needed in an open. It's different at Pewsey where the skimmers really love it and it can be a match winner.
You really need to watch someone fishing it at first as the rigs etc are quite different as is the feeding approach and you'd do better with it having watched it in use to get an idea of what it's all about. You need to know when to introduce Joker 'raw' when to 'leam' it up when to use it in groundbait. It can seem like a new world of fishing but like all methods there are some basic rules you can apply and once you get to know these it's actually quite a simple method. I'll happily have a chat with you on the day of the match but i don't really want to blast 25 yrs of learning across the internet.

so far I have 18 for this match......My lot are a bit worried because they know they won,t win. They don,t fish matches at all as you can see from the weights from our last match. Can anyone suggest a way to maybe make this a bit more even......I don,t want them dropping out.

How about an extra £1 (or £2 if the all in cost is £13 at the minute) for a blind pairs? Winning pair take all.
If you are sure you can split the field into match anglers and non-match anglers 50/50, put the names into two hats and draw out pairs.
Everyone fishes their match as normal from the peg they have drawn, but the pairs are completely random fishing for that £20 (or £40). You could even draw the pairs after the match, that might be more interesting and ensure everyone stays at their peg for the duration.

That's a good idea and I like the sound of it for a 'fun angle' on the day. Saying that don't be surprised with the weather warming up a bit if someone wins this by having the bottle to sit on half a lob or caster all day and catch a few Perch and the odd tench or skimmer. I've been wiped out in sections before with 50-60 hard earned roach (3-4lb), by a so called 'novice' with a couple of big stripeys and a few bits to go with it. It's not rocket science to catch them (chopped worm n caster) it's just having the bottle to sit and wait! The Perch have been caught to 3lb this season and 1-2lbers have shown in all the sections during the leagues. As the weather gets better it evens it up when the lumps come out to play.
