ok......I have to sensible about this.I have 10 none match fisherman from work and 5 match fisherman from here.Is it really worth you all from here coming as it won,t be a proper match now that I am short of 5 good anglers.I really thought I would have got more from here to come.Perhaps its the thought of fishing with novices but we all started somewhere. My lot don,t fish matches at all and £5 of their pool fee was going to be paid for out of the club funds just to get them to fish it as a pairs match. If I can,t get 5 more I will reduce the match fee to £5 plus peg fee which is what we pay normally. So as you can see it wouldn,t really be worth your while unless you still fancy a days fishing with a little competition.I would like to thank gman(for his help and advice on sunday),fill,SteveLockett,Chavey and creepys mate for supporting this but please have a think about this.......If you can bring someone with you then please do but I would fully understand if you did change your mind and did decide to give this a miss.

Ray I'll still fish as I would have fished on the canal somewhere anyway. It's better to have a bit of a competitive element than be sat somewhere by yourself practicing. Even with 15 fishing it's still twice the size of the Bathampton Open last week!
As you say it will also be a nice learning day for some of your guys aswell. I for one don't mind if someone stands behind me and wants to chat about the place and methods, I'll share a bit of basic knowledge with anyone who shows an interest.

Hi Ray, I've been away for a few days, so a bit out of touch.
I still want to come and fish, so I can get a look at the canal under match conditions.
How about you do the £5 + peg fee and anyone else who fancies it (meaning us more serious match anglers) can chuck in a fiver as a separate pool? Even if there's only 5 of us, we can fish for a £25 winner-takes-all, and your guys get to rub shoulders with some moaning match men;-) lol.
See you Sunday...

This is my last visit to the site before Sunday's match. I'm heading up to Bristol in the morning to shoot a magazine article with Chavey and then visit family on Saturday.
If anything changes can someone text or call me on 07968 185681?
See you Sunday, thanks, Steve

Hi.....that sounds good to me.I know me and Lewis don,t mind taking you on....the experience will do him good as he is still learning.I will leave the rest of my lot to make up their own minds. When I turn up sunday with those that don,t know where the George pub is we have to leave straight away as I have not been in touch with the pub owner.....if you know where diggers is perhaps you could go straight there past the bloke with the yellow jacket at the roadworks on the A36.He let me through easily once I told him exactly where I was going.

Thanks for organizing todays match Ray, It was a pleasure to fish, I don't think I have fished that part of the canal for about 15years and it was pleasing to see the quality of the fish in there now. I had been watching the match results from the winter league's on the venue over the last couple of seasons and have been meaning to get down there. I could fish it every week, despite the boats, bike and walkers/joggers such is the quality of the fishing. Rich
