Arthur...to be invited to fish for a team you have to have proved your self a competent angler.Ie by winning opens and general being a skillful angler.no one is trying to make you do anything you dont want to just trying to make you aware you cannot start at the top you have to work at it and put in lots of results and time.Just by traveling on public transport limits you to venues and start times .I think you first move is to join a local club to you.(so u can attend meetings and outings ) and maybe team up with some one who can give you a ride to matches. As you have admitted yourself you have been out the sport several years .so much has changed it really is a big step you need to get back into it and see what its all about again.........this is not a put down just trying to make you aware of the pitfalls.

i know whot the pitfalls are about traveling to venues by public trainsport,i know that things have changed,it like riding a bike you dont for get,if i can travel from leeds every 2 weeks to doncaster i can do it to venues there is all ways finding some where to stay over night,i am getting the felling that people whont me to join the leeds club where it cost £42 - 00 to join them but i am not as i am going to join doncaster club,i am hoping to take part in the mistery pairs match in october,to get to that one i will be coming by train from leeds to doncaster, then i will make my oun way to the venue by outher trainsport like taxi,i will do the same when i do my charity match 2009,it is not going to stop me from taking part in the silver fish league that simon is runing with paul yates next year, when i come overto doncaster in 2 weeks to pay some more money down on my fishing gear at pauls and ann yates shop i will see paul a bout me puting my name down on the list, and if i have to enter open matches in doncaster to prove to people that i can do it then that is whot i will do starting next year if ther is any open match.hopefully i will be fishing at the mistrey pairs match on the 18/10/08 at lindhole lakes that kev allan is runing,so if he is ok for me to travel from leeds to doncaster by public trainsport and make my to the venue it should not mater where i live and how i make my way to venues, i will be doing the same when i run my charity match in 2009,a venue as said thay will let me put my charity match on, all i have got to do is sourt out with them a date and see if i can do it on a weekend, then i can start sourting out sponcers, and found out how meny people will be taking part,

Arthur I'm not sure if your getting the right end of the stick by saying you want to join Donny AA and there match fising team (Diawa Doncaster).

Anyone can join Donny AA it costs about £17 and gives you access to there waters ( Fisheries ) but no matches!

Daiwa Dons is a team that fishes various leagues in South Yorks through the summer and Winter against other teams, you don't ask or pay to join you get asked by a rep from the team.

Are you wanting to join a team? Or a club that fishes matches in the donny area? The difference is in team matches you fish for points in your section of (however) many anglers in a club you fish to win individually.

You don't have to join Leeds AA to fish matches in the Leeds Area there are loads of decent clubs that fish matches every week. And if you want I can give you some info on who to talk to regarding joining which usually costs nothing and your more likely to find someone in your area who drives and is willing to give you a lift to matches.

Just trying to be helpful.

Kev I know you mean it's like his old man fishing with a handicap each week!

A bit like Ann she has to carry Yanni every week!

Hey Simon, I am still up for this mate, but i can't get a partner ( they all have other fishing commitments). So if anyone wants a partner, i'm in.
