Worms, I've fished there a few times and there are 4 canals each about 16m across and holding 10 - 12 pegs each. Depths to about 4 feet. There are loads of silvers in there and carp to just over double figures. The regulars are able to winkle out over the 100lb mark in a 5 hour comp.
Canal 2 is reckoned to be the best one with the pegs at the top end (furthest from car park) the best pegs. Main method is pole to the far bank with paste or pellet preferred although floating bread on the far bank can score well if the carp are up in the water. Maggots and sweetcorn also score heavily and I tend to favour 2 red maggots on a strong (animal) hook to 4lb test line - there are lumps in here!!
Personally I've found 'The Source' groundbait to be the best and I also feed plenty of hemp on top of it - the carp love the stuff.
If you are put on Canal 4 - go home!!! I've never rated it and the regular Saturday matches never fished on it. There are fish in it, of course, but most struggle to get double figures.
Dont forget the margins and I'd always feed a margin swim and drop in now and again for a shufty. You'll always see the fish bubbling.
The water is like drinking chocolate so finesse isn't really required in your presentation.
Good luck.
