Fishing Hawford Bridge this week end. Does anybody have any tips on baits and methods ?

Was just penning this response...........

Fished top pool last Sat.
53lb won followed by 49lb then 30's.
Despite the torential rain, and the depths (upto 8ft) I was led to believe meat and corn up in the water (about 4ins) did the business.
A lot of decent fish were lost......not only breaking 7lb lines........but they seemed to have an uncanny knack of coming off at the net

..........when I noticed the date of the original post

lol on the top is best my dad had 67ib in 4 hours
