Default packington somers

hi, im hopefully trying this venue soon. ive never fished the place but heard its a good venue for tench and carp. the pool im hoping to fish is Molands Mere. as far as i am aware halibut pellet is good, and also corn. confurmation of this would be grateful. can anyone inform of the best way to present bait e.g float or feeder, also does the pool fish better in the margins of open water? if any one can answer any of the questions i would be gratefull, cheers.

Hi Dan
I hope this helps, Yes you have been informed right the best method on Molands is Halibut pellet to the island either waggler or straight lead is needed. Feed 2 or 3 pellets over your hookbait as regular as possible (The fish come to the splash).
Best pegs are normally 2 and 60 with some very big weights coming of them. The fish tend to follow the wind and if the wind is blowing from the causeway then the scarecrow pegs will fish. Their are some big tench 7-8lbs and a good head of skimmers can be caught on the pole.

thanks for the reply, however there is still a couple of questions i would like answering if possible. when feeding pellets in the swim what is the best way to do this? how far is the island? and does the method feeder work well and if so whats the best groundbait. do the fish come up in the water and do the margins fish well? also what is the best size pellet and should it be hair rigged or straight on the hook? i would be gratefull if you could answer any of these questions as i would still like to find a little more out about the venue, cheers. dan.

halibut pellet on waggler or straight lead as already mentioned, try a catapult. Method feeder up to island, about 35 metres, find an inlet and cast to that no matter how small. Margins not all that good unless its quiet. Hair rig or band your pellet. 8 / 10 mm halibuts. Pole it effective at comfortable lengths 8 -13 mtr

Cast the straight lead out to the island with a 12 mm hair rigged halibut pellets and catapult about 3-4 8mm halibut pellets as often as possible it isnt essential to get the pellets next to your hookbait aslong as its within about 8 foot.
Margins werent really fancy but if your a roach/skimmer man then i saw a guy bag 16lbs pure roach and skimmers from the margins not sure what bait. I heard peg 44 has been winning alot of the opens.....
Hope this helps.
