With the Fishomania there this coming weekend does anyone know how it is fishing and more importantly how it is being won?

This is my local venue. On Sunday my mate won his section with the majority of his fish coming to 6mm Hard pellet, hair rigged at 14.5m. This works on all the pools. Also, a short line about 5m is a good line & often a winning line. Bait wise soft pellet or Corn, or previously big Red Meat has been prominent although speaking to a venue regular on Sunday he thinks Pellet is now the dominant bait at this venue. Naturally the margins feature with Corn being favourite. At the weekend some people were using the pellet waggler - Arles pool has a island running through the middle of it where a cage feeder is also used. Hooker pellets must be bought on site with Sonu baits competition feed allowed only in 4mm & 6mm. Total bait limit is 8 pints.

A very good person to speak to who is Tim Guise of Fishermans Friend in the West Midlands (0121 420 2925) who frames regularly at this venue & will honestly tell you the best approach & methods at any time.

Hope this helps

Simon, did not mention on the short line some people use banded hard pellet on the deck & often on the same line into the match come up up in the water & catch by constantly throwing in a few feeder pellets. This method won a match on Back Deans last week with 128lb. Also, through practice here on the Front & Back Deans pools, have found when fishing up in the water long the fish are more positive when you fish with a longer line from your pole tip to float. The short line shallow long is fine on Arles & High pools as you get a mixed bag with F1s also.

Best of luck
