Hi Bread ed,

They have banned bread but i believe they are using polystyrene instead as a substitute. I understand that if you write warburtons on the poly...they are easily fooled and think its the real thing!

oops sorry i thought you said popular lads not poplar lads

Took part in the Fisho qualifier off peg 21 on Specimen had 50lbs , 90lbs won the lake from about peg 30. First 3 to 4 hours on big wag firing balls of red fishmeal based groundbait at flost, about 40 yds out, red maggot or corn on hook. Then last couple of hours fish margin, I prefare paste but whatever your confident in. Use substantial gear as the fish are big, my first was over 17lbs.

If you have any back copies of Match Fishing, July time last year, there are articles by Will Raison and Ben Leach which cover it.

Failing that it's possible to do big bream weights on the long pole line.

Only thing I would add is that the down wind end of the lake seems to fish best. Hope this helps lets know how you get on.

One or two fish on method, clipped up to same range as waggler so you are fishing over your groundbait. I'm fairly certain that the top weight on Specimen came on big wag and groundbait. Top weights on the other lakes were I think up in the water on the pole.
