Default Whiteacres

I'm off to Whiteacres at the end of the month for a week.

Can anybody give me any advice or tips from past experience that i should know?

Also, i'm wanting to get all my rigs ready before I go so I can save the nights for.....well drinking. What sort of rigs will i need? I know that due to the amount of lakes this is quite a vague question, but i'll probably have a go on the majority of them and maybe fish in the odd match or two.

My main query is line diameters or strength of my rigs and what elastics to cover any eventuality?

Any information on this subject would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any reply

It's easy to get all confused when faced with going to somewhere like WA. A better plan may be to fish to your strengths all week.
You will catch on most methods and by sticking to a couple that you fish well, you will catch and not spend the whole week swapping and getting stressed about "are you on the right method?"
Pellet waggler or meat feeder will catch loads on all the lakes. You could also catch well on the pole and pellets or paste in the margins. Casters or soft pellets for the silver fish on the pole at 6m.
If making pole rigs, set them all up on 4m of line and cut them down when you get to the peg. Use 0.18 with a hooklength for carp rigs and 0.12 for silvers. Elastics I would use are 6-8 hollow for silvers, no12 for carp, same as I use at home.

It's pretty warm down here at the minute, if it stays like this they'll all be shallow. I shot a magazine article at Bolingey last week (you can fish it for free as part of your WA pass) and the angler had 70lb of carp in a little over 2 hours on the pellet waggler, easy!

Thanks very much, I must admit I was getting a little bogged down with setting up everything and making sure I had everything but you are right in what you say about fishing to your strengths, I wouldnt fish the 'In' method at home if i didnt know how to do it so why try it down there?

Thanks again, any other replies will be greatly appreciated, cheers, Steve

hi steve,i'm down from the 28th for a week fishing the virgins festival, the advice steve gave you is priceless do what your good at and just enjoy it your catch plenty, the only bit of advice i would say is if you fish the rover match on the thursday and get a high number it aint the end of the world because you can see where everyone is and find yourself a quite corner somewhere and bag up,alot of rovers are won that way,and if you bump into a few blokes at the bar with dodgy brizzle accents that will be me and my mates so say hello.

Also i've heard you have to use the fisheries own pellets down there but it doesnt say this anywhere on the website or within the pleasure or match rules?

Are you allowed to just use your own?
