Default Grayling fishing venue?

Can anyone recommend a day ticket grayling water in the north of England? Yorkshire or North Derbyshire if possible. I remember fishing for them many years ago at Burley in Wharfe Dale after buying a ticket at the petrol station, don't know if that is still possible? My old Dad used to catch them at Matlock in Derbyshire. Any advice would be most welcome - Thanks

Smile greyling in derbyshire

Try getting in touch with Belper tackle Belper Tackle and Gun - Where can I fish in Belper and the surrounding area?

They should sort you out with a permit. The derwent has been full of greyling this year. If you have any problems, get in touch with me on here, ill try to answer any questions you may have. Good luck with the greyling.

Brilliant! Thanks for the detailed responses. Much appreciated. Giving it a go over the Christmas break.

There was a post on the Yorkshire fishing site of a member called Warden who had caught a fair few on the Don :O

dry net - theres loads of grayling in the upper reaches of the Don in Sheffield - not all very big but lots of em

Most of the Don is free too - a light roving aproach with waders and apron and a small stick float will see you catch some fish and some nice trout too.

You never know what could turn up on the Don - my experience is that normal course fish - i.e dace, chub and roach etc tend to be in pockets but trout and grayling are everywhere in the faster water

Theres some massive wild brownies in the Don too - I'm talking 4 and 5lb ers and dont be suprised if you catch some big chub either!

Thanks Paste, Craigo. I am spoilt for choice now! I will give Derwent and the Don a go. I live near Barnsley so the river around Wortley and Deepcar isn't too far for short sessions.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond - now where are my waders and stick floats?
