Evening all

My name is Paul, 42 years young from North London,

Just about to get back into fishing after very long break, 8 years ago I had all my kit stolen after the Rifles pairs match on the River Lea at Enfiled lock, I picked up my winnings and came out to an empty van , I replaced it all and had the whole lot stolen again 2 months later, I guess you could say I was a tad gutted.

3 or 4 match's a week was taking its toll on my company so I decided to give it a break,
Life goes on Company is going well and Im back, I have just kitted myself out with all shiny new stuff and looking forward to breaking back into the game.

I fished for many teams over the Defiant Mobile being one of the first, Tottenham Angling centre, Trevs and E17 Angling being some others.

Im a Canal guy at heart but going on what I have been reading here, I got a whole lot of learning to do, buying bait from supermarkets and fishing commercial fisherires is something that wasn't the in thing back when I was last on the scene, the only prolific commercials were Claverhambury, Gold Valley and the snake place up at Northampton.

Ask me anything

JC

Hello, joined Talk Angling today.

I haven't fished since my late teens - now in my early fortys I decided to take it up again. I went for a look at local fisheries in the area during August - haven't things changed over the years. The first thing I noticed was the amount of people pole fishing - seems to make fishing a lot easier and quicker - so I decided to buy myself a pole.

I brought a Daiwa Yank N Bank pole from a local fishing shop. The staff at Banks and Burr set up the pole for me - putting on connectors cutting back and elastication etc, which was a great relief as I didnt have a clue what to do - well done to them. I also brought a cheap Match Box seat box off the internet at Ebay and also slowly buying other essentials that I need when I can afford them.

I have only fished maybe ten times since my first visit to local fisheries and buying my takckle - enjoying it everytime. I have caught carp up to about four or five pounds, one or two tench to about three pound and the rest being small roach, skimmers, perch etc

I dont know if anyone can help me but are there any pole users that can give help and advise to improve my fishing. I would like to start match fishing sometime next year and join any local club. Any help or information would be greatly appreicated.
