Question Should it have been weighed in

Fished a match the other evening during which played a large carp of some 20lbs on the pole.
After some 10 mins. when I managed to get the fish up I realised that my hook had caught up with float/line/hook attached to it from where it obviously broke up another angler (not during the match) Finally managed to land it and it was weighed in and attriibuted to my overall second place. The match organiser agreed it should count however the fishery owner who was pegged next to me was not at all happy and now says I cheated. Having never been accused of being a cheat I am to say the least a little disturbed by the accusation. My hooking of the fish in these circumstances was not intentional and my baited hook was on the bottom. Have since spoken to several other anglers who have all sided with myself and some were able to quote similar instances where fish have counted. The fishery owner's objections appear to be that two hooks were used to catch the fish. Is there any definitive answer.

In any match i have fished were this as happened the fish as been weighed in, if as you say it was not Intentional it could have wrecked your swim whilst getting it out so i would say it counts.

yep it should count!!and secondly ,,,he should have thanked you !!.....for getting the fish out ,arter all if its swimming around with line hook and float attatched it could have got tethered up and possibly died!!
its just sour grapes on the owners part ,after all you beat him

it should count you caught it with your hook
just because it had somebody else it and it still had
another hook in side it mouth
ask him to prove you used 2 hooks if still not happy
see if you can get the nfa rules for match fishing
ask yourself what would he of done weighed it in
i think so

You took the owners pants down its sour grapes on his part.

You didnt intentionally use two hooks so thats a moot point enjoy your second place its well deserved

Sounds like someone needs to learn about losing, or its off to bed with no supper for him!

Nice one mate, any more lip, tell him to shove it and fish elsewhere

Cheers...Mark
