try tapping the end of the pole on the water to attract fish.

Best thing to do is go to your local venue while a match is in progress and just ask some of the people who are catching fish if they would mind you sitting and watching them for a while. This way you should learn heaps!

Never fish the full length of your pole unless its to an island, if they fish back off the feed you wont be able to reach them.
Fish a length of pole you are comfortable with.
Set your seatbox up so that your thighs are parallel to the ground.

welcome to the site firetrap , when you hook a carp and its pullign otu alot of elastic put the tip of your pol under the water and this brings the fish back in clsoer to you
