Default hello my names stoo

I live at sleaford in lincolnshire, and usually fish locally to there, though just lately have travelled to the seven for a fantastic day at bridgnorth, thanks again lee.
just starting on a quest to get a 5lb+ tench from a local gravel pit, the match lake at woodland waters, ancaster. had the first go today, as far as the tench are concered it wasn't a great day, hooked one only for my 6lb hook length snapped. I did have two nice common carp off the top on dog biscuits during the midday sun though.
most of my fishing is done in the winter when a group of us who play cricket all summer match against each other on saturdays. fiver in the pot winner takes all, but he has to buy the first round in the pub after. I won our mini league last year. there are 4 regulars but upto 10 take part when the weather isn't too bad.
i'm looking to improve my polefishing, and winter tactics, might use another bait instead of maggots.....
