How long is a piece of string! Rainbows or browns, loch or reservoir, highland or lowland, boat or bank and then it depends upon the weather! I am sure that like coarse anglers floats most catch fishermen rather than fish. I stick to the old tried and trusted patterns and early in the season then I like dark coloured flies. Black and peacock spider or blae n black. Something that imitates a hawthorn fly as there will be a few of those around.
