Default total fishing newbie

hi everyone totaly new to fishing having to take it up as too many injuries to keep playing football.

need some advice on where to go fishing in darlington ?

is it worth joining a club or is there any free spots ?

going to try all types of fishing from spinning to carp and maybee even a pole .

all help appreciated and very welcome.

Hi Robp, if you have never fished before perhaps viewing some good DVD's on the subject may come in use, angler's like Bob Nudd etc can give you some very good tips, on canals you can find some free fishing but first check that it's not owened by a club.

hi mate,

try out some of the local shops for info on fisheries,then take a walk see what the craic is before commiting too much time or effort, and money!

Welcome Rob,
The best advise I could give is read up as much on fishing as you can, and then go watch some adults fishing. If you have got a friend that fishes then go with him/her (you must still have a rod license).
Dont buy those hardback books that seem to cover all types of angling in one (course, game and sea) as there tactics are a bit out of date/useless.
Do buy some monthly fishing mags and Angling times, as they only publish what works.
You have found your way onto a great website here and everyone will help put you in the right direction.
Dont get put off if you dont catch much to start with as you will pick it up as you go along.
