Maver Match This - Runners up final
Congratulations to my mate Perry Stone for winning the Maver Match This runners up final at Larford on Saturday picking himself up £5000 - it was a whos who of match fishing. Darren Davies came up to Perry afterwards and said that it was the best display of waggler fishing he has seen! So if anyone wants to buy a Spro waggler rod the same as perry uses let me know and I will sort you out a cracking price as I'm a Spro dealer! Trade enquiries also welcome, just send me a PM. ... -

The future of the fishing tackle industry?
I have been thinking recently about how much our sport has changed over the last 10 years and constantly getting new members join the Talk Angling site saying things such as "I have been out of fishing for 15 years and cannot believe how much it has changed since I was last involved in the sport". Many of these people are guys who drifted away from angling when 'girls' came along and now that perhaps they have young sons of their own they are looking to teach their lads about the great outdoors. Seagulls a problem just like Cormorants?
Heres one I hadn't heard before - When I fished at Barnburgh lakes last week with the TA lads I had a chat with Gary Jubb who runs the place and I asked him if they had many problems with the dreaded black death.... his reply - Its not the Cormorants we have to worry about its the seagulls.... At the time I thought to myself that he was pulling my plonker - but thinking on there did seem to be an awful lot of them in the area and I suppose they have to eat something even if it is the smaller fis... -

Licence to shoot cormorants - information
If anybody would like information on obtaining a licence to shoot cormorants - In England and Wales, where fish-eating birds such as cormorants are causing serious damage to a fishery, and where scaring methods have proved ineffective or impractical, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) or National Assembly for Wales Agriculture Department (NAWAD) may grant a licence to allow the shooting of a limited number of birds. It has to be emphasised that these licences are not to perm... -

Can papers such as Angling Times and Anglers Mail survive?
My question is this - do you currently buy one of the major angling publications? And if so do you think you will still be buying them in the next few years? My thinking is that as the internet expands and the information is available for free people will slowly drift away from buying these angling magasines, their circulations are already dropping and hence their advertising revenues on which they depend for survival - how long until they all dissapear when people can get all the information they want o... -
