Despite the bad weather forecast for today, 15 turned up to fish the match, including several new faces, whom we welcome. Unfortunately missing from the line up was my daughter who fell over a step and tore her ligaments and is now on crutches, although she is insisting on fishing the browning Youth Masters Qualifier on thursday!

As soon as the draw was made and everyone got to their pegs, the heavens opened up and the wind blew.

Those on the far bank had the wind and rain blowing straight in their face, but the fish soon started showing, with Taylor Thorpe (peg 65) soon landing skimmers and carp, he was being closely matched by Kim Hollick (peg 71) catching consistently, those fishing on the near bank were not catching as well as the far bank, but everyone was sticking to the task and trying their best. Robert Murphy fishing from peg 69 didn’t have a fish until 1pm, The carp were hard to find on the near bank with only 3 anglers landing carp on this side. Indeed the biggest weight on the near bank was taken by newcomer Joe Stowe with 15lb 10oz mostly carp taken on the feeder.

At the final whistle the results were:-

1st Taylor Thorpe 48lb 4oz. (Nisa Waveney Juniors)

2nd Kim Hollick 47lb 12oz . (Nisa Waveney Juniors)

3rd Robert Murphy 24lb 12oz. (Nisa Waveney Juniors)
