  • Tuna in oil

River is coloured with extra flow. Would I benefit from adding tuna in oil to my groundbait & using pellets, corn & worms as hookbait? There are barbel, chub, bream & carp in the stretch.

i have found that on the warwickshire avon when there is colour and extra water balling ground bait on the pole line will work just fine adding anything extra to your mix is all down to personnal preference last weekend i fished the avon at eckington balling gbait on the pole and was pestered by pike all day they were even taking bream from off the surface as i bought them in so would adding any fish based ingredient be a good idea try it and see wont do it any harm but will it do it any good ?

            Fair enough!

I'd fish for them full time if I had the time.

i keep the oil from my tins of sardines and add that to my hemp and hali crush ground bait, seems to work although they aren't getting the sardines. i also use the sweetcorn juice to wet the bait too, can't hurt.
my only pike was an accident whilst reeling in a tiny roach, only a couple of pounds but the scared the heck out of me when the rod doubled over, how i landed it i'm still not sure.
i'm not lazy, just energy efficient.

Well, it was a holiday on a narrowboat on the avon. And as is tradition on my ( not anymore because of kids ) yearly narrowboat holidays, the stella stubbies start not long after breakfast, usually about 11am.

Everyone thinks boating holidays are for old gadgies, but if you love the outdoors, and especially fishing, it beats any holiday IMO. Canals are a bit limited, get on the big rivers, great stuff.
