  • Hydro Elastic

Ok, something that's been on my mind for a while is the lifetime of Hydro Elastic... I've been using Diawa's Black and White Hydro through a power top two, for several years now and replaced it fairly regularly but I wondered if anyone had a view on how often it should be changed? In your experience, does it degrade more than 'normal' Elastic?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

I have had Maver Dual Core in for over three years and only remade the rig end a couple of times, then only because it was loosing a bit of colour in the first couple of inches.

hi ladyangler i use hydro red and black for my top 2's kit's, and white for my match kit. and for me hydro is one of best it excellent i have never had one bottom out i have had them for 2 yrs. the only thing you have to watch for is if there is any cracking or splitting, around the stonfo or if you are using a crows foot were the Dacron is pulling against the hydro. if it is split the you will need a new one, because the liquid inside maybe it has come out then you will loses the quality of the hydro. if it is just hairline cracks then just change the stonfo or crow's foot and it is good as new....

Thanks for the replies. I must admit, I've only ever had it crack once, and that was because I hadn't realised my doobry had disappeared and the elastic had been rubbing on the sections prior to me getting them out of their tube.

Try reversing it after a while cos you have probably got a foot or two on your stora bung that hasn't been battered

you can turn any of the hollow elastics into hydros - just stick one end in a bowl of water and suck the other end till the water comes through and tie it off.
