is there any actual advantage of a wire stem float?

i have many and prefer them just because they bend a little so harder to break.

Wire stemmed floats are much more stable in windy conditions and cock faster than carbon.
Wire stems are a problem when your fishing near reeds or the like as if the wire bends its a to straighten...carbon keeps its shape.

Well if the fish is to pull your float near them then chances are itll come back bent.
Same if you get you rig tangled.
Carbon is just that little bit more robust.
