its fishing a stright lead to an island or shallow water feature,with a hair rigged 10-15mm sinking hard pellet,ya cast as tight to feature as possible and sit there with ya cattie fireing same as pellets around it around 3-5 every 10 sec,hair rig hard pellet with either a pellet band or spike.a just wondered if it mite b too cold nar 4 this method,it works well at messingham sands,island lake through summer.

It certainly depends on the water your fishing but the key to any method in winter is the feeding. If you just slightly adapt your feeding pattern so that you are putting in a smaller feed content then there is no reason why it wouldnt work if it has been in the summer. You may also need to be slightly more patient for bites as the weather cools down. Another tip could be try this method also abit further down the shelf in the deeper water as it gets abit colder.

LOL. Also a couple of tips i have forgot to mention that you could try is to pop a small bright coloured boilie off the deck a couple of inches which can sometimes get you bites when all else fails. One that i tried with a some success last winter was to use a small pva bag in the height of winter with a few loose offerings which keeps all your feed together without thrashing feed on top of the fish when they just dont want it.
