  • £ for £

I am in the hunt for a new seat box after my trusty Pheonix Box gave up on me after 10 years of splendid service. The hinges are beyond repair as is certain sections of frame work

I do not fish as much as I used to - once every three weeks fishing club matches is the max at the moment due to family committments.

I am wondering what you lot feel the best box is £ for £.

I have been searching through ads in the monthly mags but cannot make up my mind what the best box is to buy.

My pockets are neither deep nor shallow - I have no budget limits but I want value for money. I am not really looking at the top of the range ones due to the amount of time I actually spend on the bank.

Can anyone supply me with their views on seat boxes and where they feel my money should be spent?

    Nice 1

    Gadders

On a pound for pound basis there are two makes i would look at firstly theres the range from Plattforms which have no plastic bits to break and are solidly engineered try Fosters of Birmingham - the complete fishing tackle specialists for details, the series 5 box is on Ebay at around £290. Secondly have a look at the Matchbox Pyramid boxes which can be more or less custom built with its modular design and added to at a later date, again no real plastic bits to break. Login to www.talkangling.co.uk the full range can be found there.

Unlike the Boss Modulator box which is £400 and in my opinion very poor.

            Cheers,

Does anyone know anything about the Kiley Boxes?

I know they have been around a while and they are knocking them out at £150 from Dansons Angling. The river box is right up my street but I am unsure about the quality of this particular model.............

i got a Kiley box recently, personally, I dont think they will be up to your everyday matchanglers standards gadgets does not exist, your bait waiter is bolted onto the bottom box, and this does not seem strong enough. I am just waiting for the side box to give way. It might not but I dont feel confident using it

My last box was a Kiley and it lasted me around 8 years I did knock up a new seat cover last year as it was getting a bit tatty, to help preserve the draws I gave them a couple of coats of varnish that I had left over. It is still in reasonable condition and will serve the grandson for a bit longer.

But does it meet the thread criteria of £ per £ best value just my opinion but Rive are overpriced and unless you can get one from abroad dont represent good value. but I do like the flexibilty they offer.

Rive are by far the best box on the market, just save up a couple of weeks longer, You will not be disappointed.

Have a look for a 2nd hand Boss 6 drawer (original) there are a few around as people change them for newer boxes. £150 should get you a decent one complete with wheels & footplate and years of service.
