  • World Pairs Championship - SECTION LIST for September 2012

    Hi All,

EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT - Here are the list of sections for the World Pairs Championship in September

SECTION A - Cavan, Draw at the Anglers Rest in Ballyconnell

    Brackley Lake
    Bunerky
    Lakefield Lake
    Eonish
    Killykeen

SECTION B - Fermanagh 1, Draw in Enniskillen

    Sand Lough
    Gloon Lough
    Kilturk Lough
    Lough Acrussel

SECTION C - Monaghan, Draw at Muckno

    Muckno

    Black Island
    Conca Wood

Section D - Fermanagh 2, Draw in Enniskillen

    Boa Island
    Manor Hotel
    Killadeas
    Airport
    Layby
    Corrigans
    Rossole Lough

Section E - Leitrim, Draw at Anglers Rest Ballyconnel

    3 sections on Garridice
    Lough Scur
    Killybandrick
    Mud Flats Carrick

Thats the 5 sections. The match is a pairs match over 5 days.

Each section will be divided into 2 parts (A&B) and your pair will draw an order at the opening ceremony so for example you might draw E,A,B,D,C so you would do the following:

    Monday: Leitrim
    Tuesday: Cavan
    Wednesday: Fermanagh 1
    Thursday: Fermanagh 2
    Friday: Monaghan

At the opening ceremony you will also nominate which of your anglers is angler A and which angler B - you always stay in this order ALL WEEK. So when you get to the section your pair is on you draw two pegs out so for example you might draw A3 and B24 ... the main section will be divided into two parts (A&B) and you then go to your respective pegs - this means although you are both in the same area you cannot draw next to each other. This has been decided as the way to run the match to make the traveling as little as possible for anglers in the same car and it is less likely people will get lost looking for sections.

There will be 2 open matches on the Saturday and Sunday proceeding the main event. If you wish to enter these matches you can ONLY ENTER AS A PAIR, also YOU MUST BOOK INTO THESE MATCHES BEFORE THE END OF AUGUST by phoning the Enniskillen tackle shop and prepaying your entry - NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED IF NOT PRE BOOKED in ADVANCE as we need to prepare for such a big match in advance, no excuses. The phone number for the shop in Enniskillen is 02866 322008

The competition will require you to dip your nets every day - there are some venues that require you to dip your nets (particularly in the South) so we have to make this a condition across the whole competition, again NO EXCUSES and competitors will be subject to disqualification if you do not observe this rule.

Along with the prizes for the pairs (£30,000 to the winners) there will be some other substantial prizes as well as individual prizes.

It is anticipated that there will be 150 pairs on this match (300 anglers) and the tickets are selling fast (as at the end of May there were over 110 pairs booked on) - so if you want to fish this match then you need to get in fast by printing off an entry form - http://www.talkangling.co.uk/world-pairs-entry.html

We have tried to make it that there are no long walks and these sections selected make that possible as well as offering some of the best fishing in Northern and Southern Ireland. With the match still 3 months away there has to be the caveat that some sections may be subject to change due to weather conditions. There are also some particularly good sections that have yet to be secured and will be added to the list as we get them booked so watch this space!

For more information see the full thread - http://www.talkangling.co.uk/upload/...waterways.html

No Nathan it most certainly is not! This is the biggest festival in Europe now and the winners get to call themselves World Champions. It is envisaged that we can get this match up to more than 200 pairs in years to come, this year its limited to 150 pairs and a prize pool of around the £100,000 mark!

How many entered so far? I'm very tempted! You get bait there, how much to enter, how far apart are sections, how much are b and bs?

Nathan, I am helping run the match, if you are interested in going then I will gladly help you with accommodation, bait, etc.... normally we get a house and share the cost (about £100 a man for the week or thereabouts) the ferry is about £150 ish per man (depends which one you get, night boat or day boat) as for bait yes you can get it there (maggot is fine there) but we take our own caster maggot and turn it on a daily basis for fresh shell and it works out cheaper that way. The sections are some fair drives but you have plenty of time to get to your pegs as matches will probably be 12 -5pm each day, there is no problem finding sections as there are always people to follow if you dont know where you are going. There are over 110 pairs booked on so far and now the section lists are released there are alot more people booking on.

Nath, it obviously depends where you are staying!

We are staying in Enniskillen so for the 2 Fermanagh sections we have 2 minute drive to the draw max 15 - 20 min drives. That then leaves the 3 other days which are Cavan, Leitrim and Monaghan....

Cavan and Leitrim is 30 mins drive to the draw and up to 10 mins to your peg (based on staying in Enniskillen)
Monaghan (Castle Blaney) is an hour and a half to the draw, 10 mins to your peg (based on staying in Enniskillen)

So with the draw each day at 10am and fish 12 - 5pm you are best off staying in Enniskillen as you only have one bad drive and even then you only have to leave at say 8am, other days you can have a lie in!

Bit strange having the Letrim draw in Ballyconnell, would it not make more scene having it in Carrick?

My opinion as an Irish angler that the likes of Bsalyconnell/Belturbet is the best central location for the event. For a starter its only about 1 hour 25min from Dublin/Ferry on new M3 Motorway.

The furthest drive you will have is Castleblayney wihch is 50 min.
                  Enniskillen is 25min
                  Cavan 10 min
Leitrim 15-30 min depending on section

                  Its a no brainer.

What's the nightlife like there though? Heard it's good at Eniskillen. Also, doubt my sat nav will work there!?

Havnt been out in eniskillen since 1992 ( and I was 17 then)

Depends what you are after Nathan. No Blue Oyster Bars if thats what you mean.

                      All joking aside.
                      Cavan Great spot
Carrick on Shannon ...... very popular for Stags and Hens...... Disco Boat on River Shannon
Castleblayney in right on border and attracts huge crowds at night.

Sat Nav???? We do have sign posts and roads over here.
It will work unless it was made by the flintstones

Nathan, even you can get covered in ladies in Enniskillen - you might find yourself waking up in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere with three lads in balaclavas standing over you though!! LOL
