  • James Maude Linden Ac @ Mallory Glebe 1

    25th July 2009

For the last week the buzz was all about Mallory. This prolific venue set in the beautiful countryside of Leicester with plenty of pre-match banter about baits and watching previous results who was catching what on which bait, but if anything this lake is a leveler it could be won off any peg. The steady convoy of intrepid anglers meandered their way down the roads, an early morning rally of anglers all excited about the day ahead. The weather was good very warm some cloud cover later, slight breeze blowing from left to right. With the majority of our club lads not having fished this venue before we were virgin anglers on a mission to catch. So the draw was made and for a change not the usual you have drawn a flyer (kiss of death) so with 24 anglers accending the hill to mount their challenge. The all in was called and elastics were being tested from the off, most had opted for the pole with only a few fishing the feeder, but the pole was to prove the better option. Winning his first match of the season was Billy Harrison , he fished worm over Hemp/dead reds at 6mtrs on the deck laying on 2" to catch steady all day to ammas a weight of 96lbs from peg 8. Close behind in Second was Dave Sewell form peg 30 with 94lb-14oz on meat. Best fish of the day was to grace the net of Richard Brown a stunning 14lb-6oz Carp nice one Rich.
    The results are as follows:
    Peg 8 Billy Harrison 96lb
    Peg 30 Dave Sewell 94lb-14oz
    Peg 11 Pete Lambert 84lb-12oz
    Peg 7 Alan Cox 78lb
    Peg 25 Shaun Green 68lb-8oz
    Peg 27 Richard Brown 67lb-10oz
    Peg 12 Terry Cheeseman 62lb
    Peg 3 Nick Heath 60lb-2oz
    Peg 26 Kevin Brown 58lb-14oz
    Peg 22 Gary Butcher 56lb-14oz
    Peg 1 Terry Wiggins 56lb-8oz
    Peg 21 Kyle Wood 56lb-4oz
    Peg 13 Wayne Jerram 54lb
    Peg 15 Ian Carr 46lb-12oz
    Peg 4 Brian Cox 42lb-5oz
    Peg 18 Tony smith 42lb-4oz
    Peg 23 Ashley Skeldon 39lb-14oz

Billy boy this was a fantastic win. Your a dark horse! Worm over Dead reds and hemp! An excellent combination and one I may try next week. 96lb from a central peg on an almost full lake is a superb weight and well deserved.

                  Top fishing mate!
