The last match in the J.M.L Ac calendar was held at the prolific Mallory Park Glebe (pool 1).
With the usual convoy of intrepid anglers meandering their way down the M1, full of anticipation of what the day had in store. If Mallory is famous for it’s racing then who would be first past the post and would run out of fuel. The over night temps had dropped dramatically, and strong icy winds blowing from left to right. So with a good turn out of 24 anglers taking their places on the starting grid, Hon sec gave the green light for the race to begin. Rods were being tested from the off with the majority of anglers opting to fish the feeder but a quick change to the pole for some as the bites just did not come, we knew this was going to be tough, but when the going gets tough the tough get going and none better than Pete Lambert, James Maude Linden’s most improved angler this season, Pete fished a cracking match fishing half way with hair rigged 8mm pellet on the bomb and firing 8mm pellets over the top produced a match winning weight of 74lb-2oz off peg 28 to give him a second place final slot in the league table. Well done Pete. Mr consistent Dave Sewell was at it again, Dave fished pellet at 10mtrs on the deck to amass a weight of 71lb-7oz from peg 27, to finish just 5 points behind in third place. Well done Dave. With 4th , 5th, and 6th places still up for grabs, Dave Lilliman had a mixed bag on the feeder and pole line for a third place and 4th slot in the league with 49lb-8oz off peg 12. Well done Dave. So on a day when most anglers struggled for bites Pete took the chequered flag and Paul Davies’s tank (net) went dry.
The results are as follows:
Pete Lambert 74lb-2oz peg 28
Dave Sewell 71lb-7oz peg 27
