EDAA Lakeview Open
Exeter members fished an open match at Lakeview Fishery in Morchard Road Village on Sunday 25th January. The anglers that fished were hoping for a good days fishing with the Warm weather we'd seen recently but the night before saw a frost at the venue. On the day the strong easterly wind was a problem for some anglers making delicate presentation of bait difficult. The favoured point pegs didn't fish to form with the winner coming from the bay, Keith Carpenter from peg 5 took the £60 first prize for his catch of 46lb 14oz. He alternated between paste and soft pellet at 8 meters for most of the day to catch small carp, later he fished the margins but could only catch Rudd until the last hour when some better fish moved in and he caught well including a last gasp fish of 6lb as the event finished. Andy Bulled was second from the unfavoured road bank with a total catch of 40lb 14oz to take a £40 prize. He had to rotate various lines to find the fish including the waggler where he managed to find some fish when the rest of the lake was struggling. Completing the frame on the day was Zac Newton (Team ALS) from the noted point peg 6, he struggled to catch consistently but his total of 36lb 8oz was just enough to beat the next anglers and take the £20 prize for third.
