  • Furnace Mill Open Results 2012

    First match of the summer was on Mucky Meadow Pool.

    Top 6 were:
    1st place Kev Williams, Wolverhampton, peg 43, 86 lb 6 oz.
    2nd place Andy Gwillam, WFR, peg 46, 85 lb 8 oz.
    3rd place Mick Round, Old Dial AC, peg 32, 75 lb 10 oz.
    4th place Kev Johnson, Mark's Tackle, peg 50,72 lb 10 oz.
    5th place Colin Matthews, Furnace Mill, peg 38, 64 lb 0 oz.
    6th place Dave Williams, Halesowen RBL, peg 52, 54 lb 14 oz.

    Best baits were pellet and maggot, most weights from either in the margins or up in the water. Water temperature is still very low so looking forward to it warming up and the really big weights starting to appear. Good match all round, very even.

    Match 2 of the Summer season:

    2nd place Paul Cook, Maver/Mark's Tackle, peg 46, 82 lb 12 oz.
    3rd place Paul Evans, Furnace Mill, peg 36, 76 lb 11 oz.
    4th Kev Williams, Wolverhampton, peg 48, 70 lb 7 oz
    5th Jack Cook, Mark's Tackle, peg 38, 56 lb 9 oz
    6th Andy Gwillam, WFR, peg 32, 54 lb 10 oz.

    Once again Paul Evans had over 30 lb of silver fish with roach, rudd, bream and chub being the main ones.
    Pellet and maggot was the best bait fished in the margins and up in the water.

      Maggot and pellet were the best baits fished up in the water and in the margins. Mainly carp but some top quality chub and bream were amongst others caught.

      Matches are on a Sunday draw at 2pm fish 3pm until 8pm.

              Carp went to 10 lb with the average at 5 lb.

              Andy said that he caught all his fish off the bottom and used pellet and corn, mainly down the right-hand side of the pallet.
              Paul used pellet and said that the fish were everywhere although the majority came from down the edge.

                  This week the match was on Mill and Willow Pools.

                  1st Dean Homer, HFN, peg 92 (mill), 78 lb 13 oz.
                  2nd Blake Hobbs, Ocean Blue Graphics, peg 55 (willow), 76 lb 8 oz.
                  3rd Colin Matthews, Furnace Mill, peg 73 (willow), 72 lb 12 oz.
                  4th Andy Newton, Furnace Mill, peg 78 (mill), 72 lb.
                  5th Paul Evans, Furnace Mill, peg 59 (willow), 69 lb 14 oz.

                  Pellet and maggot were once again the best bait with most fish being caught in the margins. The majority of the fish were carp but there were plenty of barbel, bream and other silver fish in the catches.

                          Chris and Blake fished corn down the edge whilst Kev used meat to good effect.

                          Carp averaged 5 lb but one of Chris' was 18lb!

                          4mm green feed pellet and maggot has been the preferred bait of pleasure anglers this week and many have reported good catches.
