James Maude Linden Ac Sherwood Forest Farm Park (Holmedale)
    Saturday 9th June 2012 (6hrs)

Weather: Strong winds (gale force) heavy rain at times.

Well as the Queen puts up her feet after the Jubilee celebrations, the Euro’s get underway and the onset of the Olympics upon us will team GB do us proud ??. And as the James Maude Linden Ac stalwarts had their first ever Winter league match in June. With heavy rain over the last few days and a strong wind from left to right blowing down the lake, not a fish topping anywhere had they gone to ground or was there to many eggs for them to feast on following a succession of spawning. This was going to be tough but 25 brave souls all decked out in their Celsius suits descended upon Holmedale a lake that can produce some big weights, so who would be sat on a shoal. With back to back wins our very own GB made it two on the trot so being number one I suppose drawing peg one is rather appropriate, Gary Butcher fished another inform match, fishing pellet at 12mtrs and corn down the edge at 14mtrs he fed micros to take a good bag of fish for 68lb-3oz. A strong contender for the league title this year. Well done our own GB. When he’s not walking the bank you know he’s baggin, JJ Evans fished another tidy match from peg 53 taking 57lb-14oz to the scales. Well done Jonny. Our current title holder and trying to make up some ground is Kev Brown, sitting on peg 10 Kev managed a haul of 50lb-3oz to earn a good third place. Well done Kev. Our Hon Sec Paul Skeldon, fished a good match in strong winds to end up with a good bag of fish for 48lb-6oz from peg 41 (nearly Skelly). So the other 21 brave souls battled it out for bragging rights / cock of the van / daft quid, call it what you like you’re all winners on a tough cold and windy day.

    Gary Butcher 68lb-3oz peg 1
