James Maude Linden Ac Little John Lakes (Friar Tuck)
    Saturday 16th June 2012 (6hrs)

Weather: Very Strong winds, rain at times.

Maude’s Merry Men were back on home soil as they had their second match in the beautiful surroundings of Sherwood Forest, from Holmedale and just down the road to the Little John Lakes. This being the home of Friar Tuck the boozy friar who helped Robin on many of his perilous tasks to feed the poor off the rich pickings of the wealthy. After a full breakfast in Lil’s cafe on the high street a cracking breakie with banter to match, having fuelled up it was off onto the highway into the beautiful countryside with no Kate Bumble on beaver watch we had to turn our attentions to fishing, with very strong winds and rain at times this looked like a continuation of last week’s match it was going to be tough. With three members on holiday it was down to the 23 brave stalwarts to see if they could draw with the wind on their backs at mill pond end, this our first ever club match on the Friar Tuck lake big weights were not on the cards. So on the eve of Father’s day who would be the Daddy and who would be looking for the beaver. The draw bag was kind to Dave Lilliman winning his second match of the season, Dave with the wind on his back on peg 12 fished a short line and a 11mtr line with maggot and worm hook bait Dave fed casters with few bites coming his way he switched to micros as his feed this was to bring the fish into his swim and he never looked back catching steady he took 30lb-1oz on a tough day to the scales. Well done Dave. Second place we had another Dave in the form of Johnson also with the wind on his back on peg 11, Dave was quick to notice Dave Lil’s approach and he to switched to micro feed pellet bagging 28lb-13oz in the process. Well done Dave. Blowing hot and cold this season and fishing a good match from a windy bank was Nick Heath as master of the top two and two Nick took 26lb-7oz to the scales from peg 18. Well done Nick. So with all the backup weights in very close contention this match could have gone either way but the DADDY of them all was Dave Lilliman and with Sean Hanrahan still looking for the Beaver.
    The results are as follows:
    Dave Lilliman 30lb-1oz peg 12
    Dave Johnson 28lb-13oz peg 11
    Nick Heath 26lb-7oz peg 18
    Julian Chadwick 26lb peg 21
    Pete Lambert 25lb-6oz peg 7
    Johnny Evans 24lb-3oz peg 13
    Kevin Brown 24lb peg 25
    Dean Collingham 23lb-8oz peg 10
    Ian Carr 22lb peg 2
    Terry Wiggins 21lb-6oz peg 9
    Andy Topham 21lb peg 23
    Paul Davies 19lb-9oz peg 8
    Alan Slack 17lb-6oz peg 20
    Terry Cheeseman 17lb-2oz peg 6
    Pete Jackson 16lb-4oz peg 16
    Gary Butcher 16lb-2oz peg 19

All anglers must weight to gain league points.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
    Regards Billy Boy :)

Hi MT, yes mate a cracking venue that has three lakes we fished the newest lake Friar Tuck Always tough when your peg to peg, but the weather knock them off, but regular big weights are taken on all three lake with Maid Marion chucking the best weights out. Jammie Mason holds the record on there around 250lb. You can check catch weights in Angling Times. I feel the weights on Saturday would have been doubled up all round. 14.5 mtrs to island all way around lake. Good stamp of Carp average weights, Bream up 7/8lb, some cracking IDE and roach, and small Barbel.
              Regards Billy Boy :)
