James Maude Linden Ac. Mallory Glebe 5,6,7

    Saturday 30th June 2012 (6hrs)

Weather: Over cast with strong winds occasional rain some bright spells.

On a week when the Olympic torch reached the county of Nottinghamshire, meandering its way through the villages and towns, with torrential rain, thunder and lightning this could not stop the multitude of passionate spectators wanting to show their appreciation, and a once in a life time to be part of this historic event. So you could be forgiven if your mind was elsewhere, but this was not the case for the James Maude boys. There are a few venues on the angling calendar that create a feeling of great anticipation and a buzz of excitement in the pit of your stomach well one such place is Mallory and the Glebe, a change of lakes for this year’s encounter saw the 26 Maude’s men making their way to Glebe 5, 6, 7. The decision was made to make this a three match competition with the top two on each lake taking the spoils. With no doubt all the pre-match texts, emails and tackle shop banter having had its effect, but as we all know every day is different. With a warm welcome from Roy Marlow and a quick rundown of the rules with a little light banter thrown in for good measure, it was time for the draw and with end pegs being the order of the day.
So who’s flame would be flickering bright and who’s wick would be wet. So the top three weights from all three lakes were:
Kyle Wood winning his second match of the year fished from peg 102 on Lake 7, Kyle fished paste over hemp to amass a cracking weight of 109lb-4oz. Well done Kyle. Second highest weight of the day went to Johnny Evans with 95lb-4oz from peg 109 Lake 7. Third highest weight went to Wayne Jerram with 94lb-10oz from peg 93 Lake 6. So how did the three lakes all fish and the top two on all lakes are as follows:

    Billy Harrison 80lb-2oz peg 78

    Alan Slack 54lb-8oz peg 76
    Nick Heath 53lb-12oz peg 77
    Dave Johnson 46lb-4oz peg 85
    Brian Cox 28lb-8oz peg 83

    LAKE 6
    Wayne Jerram 94lb-10oz peg93 (guest)
    Dave Lilliman 82lb-4oz peg 87

    Kevin Brown 67lb-8oz peg 88
    Julian Chadwick 64lb-8oz peg 91
    Tony Smith 62lb-14oz peg 90
    Dean Collingham 45lb-4oz peg 96
    Lenny Burton 27lb-8oz peg 86

Yes Nathan I think he was listening to you mate, interesting to see the top three on each lake all came from middle pegs open water, when the end pegs look so inviting but still good weights caught from them apart from Lenny Burton sat on the little girls peg as the locals call it, he got some stick mate to be honest 27lb, Roy Marlow said after the match that sometimes you can see the ducks wading on the backs of the fish it's that black. Lol. Hope things are settling down for you Nathan. Take care mate.
              Regards Billy Boy :)
