James Maude Linden Ac Little John Lakes (Robin Hood)

    Saturday 14th July 2012 (6hrs)

Weather: Warm slight breeze, overcast with occasional shower.

On this day 14th July 1881 Sheriff Pat Garrett shoots Henry McCarty, popularly known as Billy the Kid, to death at the Maxwell Ranch in New Mexico. Garrett, who had been tracking the Kid for three months after the gunslinger had escaped from prison only days before his scheduled execution, got a tip that Billy was holed up with friends. While Billy was gone, Garrett waited in the dark in his bedroom. When Billy entered, Garrett shot him to death.
So the Maude’s merry men made their way into outlaw territory that is Sherwood Forest, Little John was the home and Robin Hood was the Lake. Following a hearty breakfast at the trading post namely the COB SHOP we were ready to do battle with whatever the lake could throw at us. So who would be Sheriff on the day and who would Billy be kidding.
Into fish straight from the whistle was new man Julian Chadwick chasing his second win of the season, fishing a tidy match on dead reds taking most of his quarry down the edge with maggot hook bait, quick on the draw with 74lb-13oz from peg 9. Well done Julian. Back on the bank where he belongs and taking a second spot was Kev Brown with 59lb-11oz from peg 12. Well done Kev. Still pushing for a top league place is the paste head Kyle Wood missing out by 1oz taking 59lb-10oz from peg 5 for third. Well done Kyle. So some cracking backup weights as well.
    The results are as follows:
    Julian Chadwick 74lb-13oz peg 9
    Kev Brown 59lb-11oz peg 12
    Kyle Wood 59lb-10oz peg 5
    Sean Hanrahan 54lb-10oz peg 20
    Terry Wiggins 51lb peg 15
    Dave Sewell 50lb-10oz peg 18
    Andy Topham 50lb-1oz peg 7
    Pete Lambert 48lb-9oz peg 1
    Billy Harrison 48lb-8oz peg 26
    Johnny Evans 48lb-5oz peg 6
    Gary Butcher 46lb-6oz peg 24
    Dave Lilliman 45lb-15oz peg 8
    Pete Jackson 43lb-3oz peg 21
    Dave Johnson 33lb-15oz peg 13
    Terry Cheeseman 33lb-7oz peg 22
    Ian Carr 30lb-10oz peg 17
    Alan Slack 28lb peg 7
    Paul Skeldon 27lb-11oz peg 25
    Paul Davies 26lb-15oz peg 16
    Nick Heath 21lb-2oz peg 11
    Shaun Green 18lb-13oz peg 2
    Dean Collingham 18lb-13oz peg 3
    Brian Cox 11lb-6oz peg 19
    Lawrence Butcher 10lb-2oz peg 10
    Lenny Burton 2lb-7oz peg 23

All anglers must weigh to gain league points.

Next Match 21st July Portland Waters (Canal)

Thank you for taking the time to read.
    Regards Billy Boy :)
